JOHANNESBURG - Quinton de Kock will play no part in the third test against England at the Wanderers Stadium after suffering, what Cricket South Africa is calling, a "freak" right knee injury on Wednesday.

Cape Cobras wicketkeeper and batsman Dane Vilas, has been called up to replace De Kock, but stand-in captain AB de Villiers will take over as wicketkeeper if the Proteas field in the first innings, until Vilas arrives in camp.

Vilas comes into the national team set up fresh off the back of a double century in the Series in Paarl, against the Highveld Lions, while de Kock was set to take part in his second match, after being called up for the Newlands Test last week.

The Proteas are looking to bounce back into the series and level it 1-1, after losing the first one in Durban by 241 runs and then valiantly drawing the second.
