Strong winds fanning fire on Devil's Peak

CAPE TOWN - City of Cape Town Fire Services are hard at work trying to contain a blaze that's raging on Devil's Peak this morning.

Firefighters battled several fires around the peninsula on Saturday.

Cape Town firefighters have roped in extra manpower to battle a raging fire on the slopes of Devil's Peak.

The blaze is being fanned by a strong wind which is making firefighting efforts more difficult.

The city is enveloped in a thick cloud of smoke.

Fire crews will work through the day in a bid to contain the blaze.

Homes may have to be evacuated if Devil's Peak and Vredehoek fires are not brought under control as strong winds are fanning flames.
