Police officer appeared in court for raping 2 teens
The police constable is accused of raping the teens at a house in Paballelo township after New Year.
CAPE TOWN - The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) says a senior police officer in the Northern Cape town of Upington has appeared in court after allegedly raping two young girls.
The police constable is accused of raping the teenagers at a house in Paballelo township after New Year.
An investigation by Ipid led to the constable's arrest earlier this week.
Ipid's Robbie Raburabu said the man appeared in the Upington Magistrates Court the same day he was arrested.
"He was arrested on 5 January and appeared on the 6th. He will remain in custody until the bail hearing."
The police officer, who is based at Kakkamas Police Station, allegedly raped two girls aged 13 and 15 years old at a house in Paballelo on 2 January.
He will remain in police custody until his next court appearance later this month.
