JOHANNESBURG - As the country battles another heatwave, the South African Weather Service has advised residents to take precautions.

Forecasters are warning the mercury is expected to soar, with temperatures of 40 degrees in some parts of the country.

Cooler weather is only expected from Friday.

Forecaster Mbavhi Maliage said, "We advise people to not stay outside for too long periods, especially in the afternoon, drink lots of fluids and to stay in a well ventilated room because it gets bit humid and a bit hot with these high temperatures."
