CAPE TOWN - Western Cape traffic authorities say more than 20 roadblocks across the province netted 30 drunk drivers and a speedster.

More than 140 people have been killed on the province's roads since the start of the festive season.

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says officers will be out in full force as holidaymakers return home this week.

"We arrested 30 drunk drivers, impounded two taxis and arrested two taxi drivers; one in George and the other in Mossel Bay. One driver was arrested for doing incredibly high speed in Laingsburg at 169 kilometre in a 120 kilometre zone."
