Cops open murder case after retrieving 2 bodies from Marikana dam

JOHANNESBURG - Police have opened a case of murder after divers recovered the bodies of two men in a Marikana dam.

It's understood the pair were caught stealing from a local shop on New Year's Day.

Angry residents allegedly assaulted the men and tied their hands behind their backs, before throwing them into the dam.

The police's Paul Ramaloko said their bodies were discovered last night.

"The bodies were retrieved by our divers after a three-hour-long search. These bodies were allegedly thrown into this dam by community members who allegedly caught these men stealing from a local shop."
