SA vs Eng: Stokes continues onslaught from day one
England go into lunch on 513/5 with Stokes on 205 and Bairstow 95. A total of 196 runs in the session.
CAPE TOWN - Stokes continued his onslaught from day one, the all-rounder was rampant this morning bringing up an incredible double century before lunch.
The all-rounder begun on the day on 74 but in a special two hours of cricket brought up the second fastest ever double century in Test cricket.
There were ominous signs from the first over as Ben Stokes hit Morne Morkel for two consecutive boundaries.
The pair scored over 100 runs within the first hour of play to get England to 400 leaving South Africa and captain Hashim Amla with a serious headache.
The hosts had no answers for the assault from Stokes with Jonny Bairstow proving the perfect foil as he quietly got to 50 and by the time lunch came he was only five runs off his very own century.
South Africa will now have to wait until England decide to declare instead of their initial plan of hopefully bowling England out cheaply.
With England firmly in control, they will surely make a score where it is almost impossible for South Africa to win this match in a series they are already 1-0 down in.
