Multiple drownings reported in CT on New Year’s Day
A 16-year-old boy drowned at the Strand Jetty while a 31-year-old drowned in Rooiels, near Pringle Bay.
CAPE TOWN - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says there have been multiple drownings along the coast and swimming pools across the Cape Peninsula on New Year's Day.
Two drownings were reported along the False Bay coast while another incident occurred at the public swimming pools in Bellville.
A 16-year-old boy also drowned at the Strand Jetty while a 31-year-old drowned in Rooiels, near Pringle Bay.
The NSRI's Craig Lambinon says all the incidents were as a result of rip currents.
"There's still a search going on. The police dive unit will continue with search operations for a 10-year-old male at Clifton Beach and an 18-year-old male at Milnerton Lagoon Beach."
