Update: Hermanus vegetation fire contained

It's believed the fire started high up in the mountains and has since moved down to Chanteclaire.

CAPE TOWN - The vegetation fire in Hermanus has been now contained.

Chief Fire and Disaster Management Leicester Smit said, "The fire is currently contained, but it's not 100 percent under control. We still have 22 ground crew members on the line to ensure that no flare-ups occur."

Earlier, firefighters were dispatched to a raging vegetation fire in Hermanus.

It's believed the fire started high up in the mountains and has since moved down to Chanteclaire.

There were no homes under threat by the fire.

It's still unclear how the fire started.
