Mahlobo sends condolences to Hermanus Schalkwyk’s family
Schalkwyk was killed in an accident involving one of Mahlobo’s official vehicles on Christmas Eve.
JOHANNESBURG - State Security Minister David Mahlobo has sent his condolences to the family of Hermanus Schalkwyk, adding that he respects their decision not to welcome him on a visit to convey his sympathies.
Schalkwyk was killed in an accident involving one of Mahlobo's official vehicles along the R33 road in Mpumalanga on Christmas Eve.
His family has since opened a case of culpable homicide against the state and indicated that they'd allegedly been advised not receive the minister on his visit.
Mahlobo's spokesperson Brian Dube says the minister is disappointed that the accident has been politicised.
"He is convinced that some sections of the political sector have forged to create unfounded rumours about the cause of the accident."
