CAPE TOWN - Cape Town police have launched a manhunt for gunmen who wounded eight people in a drive-by shooting in Lavender Hill.

Emergency personnel found the wounded strewn across the lawns of a Chapel Road residence on Saturday.

Police say the suspects fled in a black car.

The drive-by shooting appears to have been gang related.

The Lavender Hill community policing forum's Lucinda Evans says the attack comes in the wake of sporadic gang violence in the area.

She says witnesses are too scared to come forward.

"There are witnesses who saw [what happened], but they are not prepared to make statements."

Seven victims were treated for minor wounds and one was moderately wounded according to paramedics.
