JOHANNESBURG - After some confusion, it now appears popular house DJ Black Coffee will appear in court on Wednesday after being arrested for speeding on Christmas Eve.

There was confusion at the Roodeport Magistrates Court today, as journalists arrived to cover DJ Black Coffee's appearance, but were told he will only step into the dock later this week.

Nkosinathi Maphumulo was caught driving at 200 kilometres per hour in a 120 kilometre zone in a Maserati on the N1 highway.

He was held at the Florida Police Station for reckless and negligent driving and was released on bail of a R1,000 the same day.

Court officials have confirmed that Maphumulo's name is on the roll for Wednesday.

Yesterday, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officials had said he would appear this morning.

The DJ is one of more than 120 people arrested for reckless or drunk driving over the Christmas weekend.

He has since apologised on social media.
