CAPE TOWN - A suspected gangster has been denied bail amid community protests at the Mitchell's Plain Magistrates Court in Cape Town.
The man is among 240 people arrested during festive season operations in the area and surrounding suburbs including Hanover Park this week.
The raids follow fatal clashes sparked by gang violence.
The alleged gangster will remain behind bars after the case against him was postponed earlier today.
He was arrested in Lentegeur for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
The arrest was one of 240 executed during special operations between the 18 and 25 December.
The Mitchells Plain Police Cluster also confiscated several unlicensed firearms and ammunition during the raids.
