Hundreds left homeless following fire in Hout Bay

Cape Town fire and Rescue Service said the fire has been contained and that no injuries have been reported.

CAPE TOWN - Hundreds of people have been left displaced after a fire broke out in the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement in Hout Bay.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.

Cape Town fire and Rescue Service's Theo Layne said the fire has been contained and that no injuries have been reported.

Layne said eleven firefighting vehicles have been dispatched to the scene.

"The crews remained on scene throughout the night extinguishing the fire and dealing with any hotspots that they encounter."
