AutoPax to investigate why buses were impounded
Eight passenger-filled buses were detained for over 10 hours at a Bloemfontein testing station yesterday.
JOHANNESBURG - AutoPax says it will investigate why eight passenger-filled buses were detained for over 10 hours at a Bloemfontein testing station yesterday.
The buses were taken to the Lengau Testing Centre after the drivers allegedly failed to produce the correct documentation.
The buses were eventually released after the company paid a R20,000 fine.
The police's Mangaliso Xaba says the documents the drivers produced had missing information.
"The documents had a missing permit number, it was supposed to appear on the annexure."
But AutoPax's acting CEO Bongani Kupe insists the documents are valid.
"We know we are operating with permits that were issued by the Gauteng Regulatory Entity which is an official authority."
Kupe says the company is determined to get to the bottom of what happened, in order to prevent further disruptions.
