JOHANNESBURG - The mother of a nine-year-old missing Soweto girl says she never imagined that she would spend Christmas without her daughter.

Bongiwe Ngubeni disappeared earlier this month while on her way to a local spaza shop in Protea Glen.

Her mother, Mbali Ngubeni, says she and community members searched frantically for the Grade 3 pupil after she failed to return home.

Today marks exactly 25 days since Bongiwe was last seen by her family and community members.

Her mother says she is devastated that she will spend Christmas without her daughter.

"I'm just looking at her clothes she was supposed to be wearing and it's very sad."

Ngubeni says she is praying for a miracle.

"The police are still looking everywhere, they don't have any possible leads that they are working on."

The young girl's mother says support and prayer by community members is giving her strength and keeps her hopeful that her daughter will return home safe.
