Operation Fiela nabs at least 170 in Gauteng

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police say nearly 170 suspects have been arrested in various crime busts in the province over the past few days.

Over 30 people have been arrested for alcohol related offences and 25 for drug related crimes.

Authorities say some focus areas this festive season include patrols in and around shopping malls and stop-and-search operations.

The police's Lungelo Dlamini said, "As police continue with crime prevention operations under Operation Fiela, we arrested a total of 158 suspects. Among these suspects, 30 were arrested for alcohol related offences."
