JOHANNESBURG - A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the Rhodes Park double murder and rape case.

The man was arrested at Sunnyside Park in Pretoria on Friday night.

It's believed he was one of a dozen men who attacked two couples, killing two men and raping one of the women.

The police's Lungelo Dlamini says the suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Monday along with the other two suspects.

At the end of October the first suspect was arrested and in November, a 22-year-old man was arrested in Yeoville.

On 17 October two couples were walking through Rhodes Park when they were approached by a gang of about 12 men.

Police say the gang tied the husbands up and threw them in a dam, where they drowned.

One of the woman was gang raped while the other managed to escape.
