Water supply to JHB suburbs being restored
Joburg Water has started repairs after a major pipe burst on the Corner of Republic Road and Judges.
JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Water says residents in Randburg and surrounding areas can expect their water supply to be restored by tomorrow.
The utility has started repairs after a major pipe burst on the Corner of Republic Road and Judges this week.
It says the problem was caused by wear and tear affecting two of the city's reservoirs, which have now run dry.
Spokesperson Hilgard Matthews says they have had to demolish part of a building to continue work at the site.
"The pipe is about 10 meters deep and the deeper they went the more it compromised the structure of the building, which is right next to the burst. We need to make sure that the site is safe and then after that the team will be able to fix the pipe."
