Memorial service for Katlehong triple murder victims underway
Last week, two teenage sisters and a seven-month-old baby were killed at their home.
JOHANNESBURG - Community members in Katlehong on Thursday gathered for the memorial service of three children murdered in the area.
Last week, two teenage sisters and a seven-month-old baby were killed at their home in Khumalo section.
Police arrested two suspects believed to be cousins to the sisters.
Community members slowly filled the Tabernacle of God church where a memorial service was expected to commence this afternoon.
The three children were stabbed and drowned in a bath tub filled with boiling water last week.
It's alleged the two suspects had an altercation with the mother of the two girls shortly before the attack.
Church leaders, family members and representatives from political groups were present to bid farewell and songs of comfort were heard.
Those gathered at the church congregated to remember Lerato Letswalo, Priscar Movit and baby Skhumbuzo Movit.
Family members were still visibly traumatised by the murder of their young relatives.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the murders.
