Major pipe burst affects several JHB suburbs
Linden and surrounding areas have been without water for most of the day.
JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Water says it's working at restoring the water supply in Linden and surrounding areas, following a burst pipe on Corner Republic Road and Judges in Randburg.
The utility says the 7 to 10 metre deep burst was caused by normal wear and tear on Wednesday afternoon.
Spokesperson Eleanor Mavimbela says repairs should be complete by Friday.
"The team is currently on site doing excavations. Because of the location, depth and unstable ground that the pipe is sitting in, we estimate that repairs will be completed by tomorrow afternoon."
Mavimbela has urged residents to continue to use water sparingly as the Linden Tower is already running empty.
THE FOLLOWING AREAS HAVE BEEN AFFECTED:
Cresta Ext 5,3, 1,4 and 2
Victory Park Ext 8
Robindale Ext 5, 2, 9, 10, 4 and 1
President Ridge Ext 1,7
HurlingHam Ext 5
Darrenwood ext 2
Lyme Park Ext 4
Victory Park ext 18
Water tankers have been set up for each location.
Residents are encouraged to follow the utility's Twitter and Facebook page for further details.
Blairgowrie: Kindly advice where we can place water tankers in the area.
