King Dalindyebo’s bid to avoid jail fails

The ConCourt has dismissed the AbaThembu King’s application for leave to appeal his conviction.

CAPE TOWN - AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo' s bid to avoid jail time has failed.

The Constitutional Court has dismissed his application for leave to appeal his conviction for a string of offences dating back to the 1990s.

King Dalindyebo was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a host of crimes, including arson, assault and kidnapping.

The National Prosecuting Authority's Luxolo Tyali says, "We can confirm that (the) leave to appeal application by King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo was dismissed by the Constitutional Court. That order was granted on 2 December."
