CAPE TOWN - Organisers of the annual Tweede Nuwe Jaar Minstrel Parade say the event, scheduled for the second of January, is not going to be pushed back.

The festival was hit with several hiccups this year and ended up taking place two weeks later than usual.

The Cape Town Minstrels Carnival Association said it's not facing financial trouble and is confident it'll be able to pull off the multimillion rand event.

The association's Kevin Momberg said the only outstanding issue is whether or not the City of Cape Town will provide services on the day.

"Like the traffic cops, disaster management and Metro Police and so on."

Momberg said they're currently in talks with City officials.

Every year, thousands of spectators line the Cape Town CBD streets to witness the historic event.
