Grim start to festive season after 20 killed on WC roads

CAPE TOWN - The festive season has gotten off to a grim start in the Western Cape where at least 20 people have died on the province's roads over the past few days.

Five people were killed in a collision on the N2 Highway outside Plettenberg Bay on Sunday.

In a separate incident, two people including a child were killed when their bakkie overturned near Du Noon.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says, "We would once again like to urge our motorists, please do not take unnecessary chances. If you're tired, get off the road; stop and rest."
