CAPE TOWN - The social media website takes into account how frequently topics are mentioned in Facebook posts from the first of January to the first of December.

President Jacob Zuma, who's dominating headlines yet again, this time over his sacking of finance minister Nhlanhla Nene, is the number one topic in South Africa, followed by the Rugby World Cup and electricity crisis.

The Nkandla scandal snuck in at number five.

The looming US presidential election is the number one topic globally followed by last month's Paris terror attacks.

Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Kanye West topped the list for entertainers while Game of Thrones, _The Walking Dead _and The Daily Show were the most talked about TV shows.
