JOHANNESBURG - Convicted murderer Sindisiwe Manqele's legal team has abandoned efforts to have her bail extended until tomorrow, meaning she'll spend tonight in a prison cell.

The 26-year-old was today found guilty of murdering her rapper boyfriend Nkululeko 'Flabba' Habedi at his Alexandra home in March.

Manqele will be back in court tomorrow morning, but she won't be sleeping at home tonight.

Her lawyers have already communicated their intention to appeal Judge Solly Sithole's judgment which found her guilty of murder.

Sithole said the version presented by Manqele - that she stabbed Habedi in self-defence - can't be taken to be 'reasonably possibly true'.

Her defence have also been vocal about their intention to appeal the judgment which they say was made on the wrong grounds.

Meanwhile, Habedi's mother who was once close to Manqele has said she couldn't care less if her late son's girlfriend rots in jail.

'MANQELE ACTED OUTSIDE THE BOUNDARIES OF SELF-DEFENCE'

Sithole told the court that according to South Africa's criminal law, Manqele acted outside the boundaries of self-defence when she stabbed her rapper boyfriend.

There were gasps and some sighs of relief in court room nine as the judge handed down his judgement.

"The accused is hereby found guilty of the murder of Mr Habedi as charged."

He says the force used by the convicted murderer to stab the late rapper didn't match the alleged threat to her life which, in turn made her the attacker.

"She exceeded the limits or bounds of self-defence by plunging the knife into the chest of the deceased."
