ANC, DA contesting Kraaifontein & Oudtshoorn wards
The ANC and the DA are to hold on to their wards when they contest by-elections in the Western Cape.
CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) are to hold on to their wards when they contest by-elections in the Western Cape today.
The two parties will be going against each other for a ward in Kraaifontein and will contest another in Oudtshoorn with two smaller parties.
The Kraaifontein seat became vacant following an ANC councillor's resignation , while the DA fired its representative in Oudtshoorn.
The DA's Liza Albrecht says the party's aware the Kraaifontein ward is an ANC stronghold.
"It's a very strong ANC ward and the DA will be delighted if we can grow our support in that ward. In Oudtshoorn, we are quite certain that we will win and we will retain the ward."
The ANC's Jabu Mfusi says they are hoping to upset the DA in Oudtshoorn.
"We're contesting that ward and we are confident that we are going to win that ward in Oudtshoorn because we have done all our assignments and our work."
