JOHANNESBURG - Hlaudi Motsoeneng's lawyer says the full story behind his appointment at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will be presented once his disciplinary hearing commences.

Zola Majavu says despite a Public Protector report which found that Motsoeneng lied about having a matric qualification, those who hired him decades ago did not question his educational background.

Motsoeneng's disciplinary hearing will start today more than a month after schedule.

Majavu says Motsoeneng is not lying when he insists he didn't lie about his matric qualification.

"I've never doubted my client's innocence. I have defended many people in my life and this the one that I will defend to the hilt."

He says the Public Protector's report failed to interrogate the person who hired Motsoeneng at the SABC 20 years ago.

"The same person that nobody bothered to check with is still an employee at the SABC, but if needs be, we will call him."

Today the SABC's legal team will list its charges against Motsoeneng also calling forward the first of its witnesses.
