CAA investigate deadly Swellendam plane crash

CAPE TOWN - The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is investigating a deadly light aircraft crash in the Western Cape.

A man died when his plane went down between Swellendam and Bredasdorp yesterday.

It's believed he was flying to Cape Town from Johannesburg's Lanseria Airport when he lost radio contact.

The cause of the incident is unclear.

The South Africa Air Force were also alerted to the incident over the Overberg region.

The plane was apparently seen rapidly spiraling towards a mountain before it hit the ground.

The Department of Transport's Air Crash Investigative Unit and the CAA are investigating the incident.
