The arrests follow a tip-off about an illegal reconnection that was meant to take place.
JOHANNESBURG - It's emerged a City Power employee and a contractor have been arrested for soliciting a bribe to a customer whose power had been cut off due to non-payment.
The power supplier says the arrests follow a tip-off about an illegal reconnection that was meant to take place.
The pair were bust during a sting operation on Friday.
City Powers' Yumna Sheik says they'll appear before the Johannesburg Magistrates Court soon.
"City Power has embarked on a crackdown of fraud and corruption, which has seen a number of employees and contractors arrested and suspended. We are busy with a number of investigations with regards to this."
