Krejcir’s JHB, Vaal properties sold for R17m
They were auctioned off yesterday, with the one in Bedfordview attracting 4 registered bidders.
JOHANNESBURG - Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir's two houses, one in Bedfordview and another in the Vaal, now have two new separate owners.
Eyewitness News understands his Bedfordview mansion was sold for R12,8 million (all inclusive), while his Vaal home was sold for R4,2 million (all inclusive).
The homes were auctioned off yesterday, with the one in Bedfordview attracting four registered bidders.
One bidder who participated in the auction in Bedfordview - but pulled out as the price climbed - says he was disappointed by the Bedfordview house.
Christiaan Gey van Pittius says there was an eerie atmosphere in the house during the bidding process.
"Most of the bedroom doors are steel doors with multiple locks, which is weird because it does sort of hint that he was scared."
Another registered bidder, who also didn't buy the Bedfordview house, lives just two houses from the property.
Security was strict inside and outside the Bedfordview auction - with private VIP protection guards patrolling the area, security guards inside the house and Hawks officials refusing to allow the public to enter.
The registered bidders each had to put down a R100,000 registration fee.
