Education dept: We won't tolerate improper behaviour
MP's Education dept confirmed 19 of its teachers were found guilty of sexual misconduct in the past 3 years.
JOHANNESBURG - As 19 Mpumalanga teachers are found guilty of sexual misconduct, the education department in the province says it will not tolerate any form of improper behaviour by its employees.
The department yesterday confirmed it served the teachers with differing sanctions, depending on the merit of each case.
Some of the punishments include suspension without pay and outright dismissals.
The department's Jasper Zwane says the teachers were found guilty of acts committed in the past three years.
"We do, from time to time, conduct advocacy campaigns on professional ethics, working with our unions and well as the South African Council for Educators."
