CAPE TOWN - Charges against one of the two men implicated in the murder of a Cape Town Hawks official on the N2 highway have been withdrawn.

Adrian Hendricks and Xavier Ryan appeared in the Somerset West Magistrates Court yesterday where the murder charge against Ryan was withdrawn.

The two were arrested in Macassar hours after 50-year-old warrant officer Petrus Holz was ambushed, robbed and stabbed to death on the N2 in July.

WATCH: Rest in peace

However, the case against Hendricks has been postponed to next month for further investigation.

Hendricks will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

Safety along the N2 was thrust into the spotlight again last week after a traffic official was shot near the Airport Industria area.

He sustained a minor gunshot wound to the back and is currently in recovery.
