CAPE TOWN - Eastern Cape police are investigating the death of a Buffalo City Municipality worker.

The man was killed, allegedly by a superior, last Friday during a protest.

The deceased was part of a group of about 100 employees who were protesting outside the municipality's premises.

It's alleged a manager then rammed his bakkie into a gate and knocked down some of the demonstrators.

The police's Mluleki Mbi says, "After following up we discovered one employee was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital. He later died in hospital. We're investigating a case of murder."
