JHB Water hails recent rains
Joburg Water says compliance with tight water restrictions has also relieved pressure on reservoirs.
JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Water says the recent rains in Gauteng have helped the city recover capacity in areas affected by water shortages.
The water utility says compliance with tight water restrictions implemented earlier this month has also relieved pressure on reservoirs.
However level 2 restrictions still remain in place as weather forecasters expect below average rainfall this season.
The City of Joburg is one of several municipalities in Gauteng that have implemented control measures to tackle supply and demand challenges.
Joburg Waters' Hilgard Matthews said, "Over the past few days with the rains we have seen a good recovery of levels of our reservoirs. We want to say thank you to everybody who has not been watering their gardens and the level 2 restrictions are still in place."
