JOHANNESBURG - The Home Affairs Department has alerted its clients that 140 of its offices around the country will be offline for a week from next Friday.
Director General Mkuseli Apleni made the announcement at a briefing in Pretoria today.
He says the department will be upgrading its live capture system with new hardware and software.
"From 27 November at 2 o'clock, until 2 December, ID and passport services won't be available as offices will be installing the new upgrades for service improvement."
Apleni says the upgrades will vastly improve ease of use for clients.
"Enhancement favouring clients will include introducing a booking system on the e-channel for people to apply for documents online in the comfort of their homes or offices."
