Schools in the area have been closed and one campsite has been cleared as a safety precaution.

Helicopters have been deployed to assist with firefighting operations.

The Simons Town Country Club has also been affected.

The country club's Phillip Berranger says, "The fire seems to be under control in our immediate area. We have had some fire damage to our first hole, which has jumped over the course and burned down onto the main road. Luckily it has not gone on to the bottom half of the course."
