SABC board suspends CEO Frans Matlala
The corporation says the decision is with immediate effect.
The corporation says the decision is with immediate effect and the group's head of news Jimi Mathews will run the corporation in an acting capacity.
But there is no explanation at this point as to why this decision has been taken.
In July, Matlala took over the post after a period of instability at the broadcaster amid claims that it was really being run by then Chief Operations Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng.
The board also said it did have a quorum to make that decision after several members were removed.
Matlala then said he knew that it was a big job.
A day after his appointment, questions were being asked about how and why the former consultant was appointed.
Matlala was formerly banking executive and a consultant for former SABC chair Zandile Tshabalala, who was forced to resign after news emerged that she faked her qualifications.
