CAPE TOWN - Firefighters are battling a large vegetation fire in Simons Town.
The blaze is burning on the slopes of the mountain just above Klawer Valley and there's no immediate threat to property.
The Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service is being assisted by Table Mountain National Park, Working on Fire and the South African Navy.
Cape Town Fire Services' Theo Layne says, "The fire is currently fanned by a very strong south-easterly wind. We have four vehicles on the scene. Most of the fire is inaccessible to conventional vehicles and ground crew are proceeding up the mountain slopes to attempt extinguishing the fire."
