Small group protests outside TUT's Soshanguve Campus
TUT says it’s unclear what sparked the protest as there's ongoing engagement over issues raised by students.
JOHANNESBURG - The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) says a small group of students have continued protesting at the Soshanguve campus today, but the situation is under control.
Academic activity had been suspended for some time over issues of outsourcing and fee increases for next year.
The institution's Willa de Ruyter says they have settled a number of issues with students and exams are expected to proceed tomorrow.
"It's not clear what the issues are since there have been ongoing engagements with the central Student Representative Council. The Memorandum of Understanding, which deals with the issues was signed this morning."
