Warnings of severe thunderstorms for SA
This week's rainfall will offer some relief following a week of scorching temperatures.
JOHANNESBURG - Following a scorching week of temperatures above 40 degrees, the South African Weather Service has issued a warning of severe thunderstorms with hail and strong winds.
Last week, a heatwave that caused water shortages in parts of Gauteng finally came to an end as rain fell in parts of the Western Cape and along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline.
Forecaster Bransby Bulo says this week's rainfall will offer some relief.
"Starting from today, there's a good chance of thundershowers. At the moment we've gone for a 60 percent chance of thundershowers for Tuesday and Wednesday as well. We have also issued a watch of possible severe storms."
