Alleged criminal mastermind to be laid to rest
Ignatius Selokane was killed in a drive-by shooting outside his butchery last weekend.
JOHANNESBURG - Friends and family of suspected syndicate boss Ignatius Selokane will lay him to rest in Mamelodi in Pretoria today.
Selokane was killed in a drive-by shooting outside his butchery last weekend.
It's expected local businessmen and representatives from the region's taxi associations will be present.
"Junior 13" as Selokane is known in the community, made headlines over 10 years ago when the assets forfeiture unit seized his possessions worth R6 million thought to have been bought through the proceeds of crime.
Dozens of Mamelodi community members are expected to pay their last respects at the funeral this morning.
Mourners will gather at the family home before making their way to the local Baptist church.
Selokane was linked to a series of crimes and allegedly masterminded one of the most elaborate bank robberies in South African history when R26 million was stolen in 2003.
No arrest have been made for his murder.
