JOHANNESBURG - Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson and the BBC is reportedly being sued for racial discrimination after an assault on TV producer Oisin Tymon.

According to BBC News, lawyers for Clarkson and the British broadcaster attended a closed-door hearing with Tymon's legal team on Friday.

An internal inquiry found Tymon who has been producing the show for several years, was subject to an "unprovoked physical and verbal attack" in March this year.

Clarkson was later suspended after reporting himself to management and admitting to giving Tymon a bleeding lip for which the producer sought hospital treatment.

The BBC has refused to comment.
