CAPE TOWN - Scores of penguins and other seabirds at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (Sanccob) centre in Table View are currently undergoing rehabilitation.
The animals had to be evacuated from the seabird centre due to a vegetation fire in the Table Bay Nature Reserve's Rietvlei Section this morning.

Teams managed to put out the flames a few hours ago and the seabirds have since been moved back to the shelter.
Sanccob's Francois Louw says operations at the centre have returned to normal.
"The fire started close to us and we had to take a safety precaution so we decided to move the penguins to a safe location and we had 300 penguins and sea birds that had to be put in boxes."
