Mchunu: ANC members being manipulated
The KwaZulu-Natal premier says henchmen shouldn't be allowed to impose their will by force on branches.
JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal premier and African National Congress (ANC) leader Senzo Mchunu says people in ANC branches in the province have been manipulated to ensure conference elections reach pre-determined results.
He also says various groups have been formed ahead of both this provincial conference and the ANC's national conference in 2017.
Mchunu says the ANC is not an organisation of hooligans and that henchmen should not be allowed to impose their will by force on branches.
He also says that during the build-up to this conference and the ANC's national conference in 2017 different groupings with different postures have formed in a situation where some people treat leadership elections as matters of life or death.
Mchunu says that it can't be healthy that some people only work hard during party conferences but are absent from its day to day programmes.
He says the province must not flinch from its quest for good leadership - and to secure the moral high ground.
