Four people injured on Guy Fawkes Day

A health services official says two children & two adults sustained fireworks-related injuries.

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Government Health Emergency Medical Services says at least four people, including children, were injured during Guy Fawkes Day celebrations.

They sustained fireworks-related injuries yesterday.

EMS Spokesperson Robert Daniels said, "Two adult males and two male children suffered serious injuries to their hands in Swartklip in Mitchells Plain, Ottery as well as Macassar. They were rushed to various facilities including Groote Schuur Hospital and Red Cross Children's Hospital by Western Cape Government Health Emergency Medical Services."

The City of Cape Town said it approved 12 sites for the discharging of fire crackers at the Table View beachfront, in Atlantis, Bishop Lavis, Bonteheuwel and Camps Bay, among other places.
