CAPE TOWN - Hanover Park residents will meet Community Safety MEC Dan Plato soon to discuss resurgence in gang violence.

The Hanover Community Policing Forum (CPF) claims seven people have been killed in gang shootings in the last week.

A local health centre had to shut its doors on Sunday after a shooting broke out near the clinic.

It has since reopened its doors.

The CPF's Ebrahim Abrahams said, "That's why we're having the MEC for Safety Dan Plato at our meeting so that we can address all this things collectively."

Plato says he's worried.

"It was quiet for a number of weeks, just sporadic incidences, but for the last couple of days we got a bit worried with the fierce escalation of shootings and murders in that area."
