CT traffic official arrested for corruption
The woman was arrested during a sting operation at the New Ottery Driving Licence Testing Centre yesterday.
CAPE TOWN - A Cape Town traffic official has been arrested for corruption during a sting operation.
The woman is based at the New Ottery Driving Licence Testing Centre.
A local businessman recently complained to Cape Talk that one of his employees was guaranteed a drivers licence in exchange for cash.
The sting operation was then carried out on Tuesday.
The City of Cape Town's Richard Bosman says authorities immediately took action.
"We applied for permission to do the undercover operation. The result was that one of our staff has been arrested for corruption. During the process a sum R2,000 was exchanged between the parties to ensure the driver's license was paid."
The woman is expected to appear in court today.
