CAPE TOWN - The father of a Kensington kidnapping victim says his son is lucky to be alive.

Muhammad Yusuf da Costa was abducted by two armed men en route to work in Stellenbosch yesterday.

But Shamil da Costa says his son managed to escape.

"He called us at about 12:30 last night and he had managed to escape and he had managed to drive to Bellville. He was somewhere between Paarl and Worcester when the two men wanted to get another car and urinate. He used this as an opportunity to put his foot on the pedal and drove away."

#KensingtonKidnapping Shamiel da Costa - father of a Kensington kidnapping victim - says his son is lucky to be alive after his safe return.

#KensingtonKidnapping da Costa managed to escape while his abductors had made a stop near Wellington last night. NM
