‘EcoMobility Festival was a success’
The initiative, which encouraged motorists to walk, ride or take public transport, came to an end on Saturday.
JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg says it believes the EcoMobility Festival in Sandton was a success, as it changed the mind sets of motorists about using other modes of transport.
EcoMobility month officially came to an end on Saturday.
The initiative encouraged motorists to walk, ride or take public transport into the Sandton CBD.
There were dedicated public transport lanes, park and ride facilities, as well as bicycle and walk lanes.
The city's Lisa Seftel has thanked those who participated in the initiative.
"We spoke to a lot of commuters who think this is a partnership that can go forward. Drivers need to be more cautious and courteous, but I think a lot of people have realised that public transport can work for them."
